Nanny's Potato Casserole

2 lbs. frozen hashbrowns
1 8 oz. Sour cream
1 Can cream of mushroom soup
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1 large onion chopped
Salt and pepper to taste

Place ingredients in 9 X 13 inch pan and cover with ½ cup butter, and if desired bread or cracker crumbs. Bake at 350 for 45 min. covered in foil. Then remove foil and bake an additional 15 min.
